A group of talented WIS swimmers recently took part in the Namibian Short Course National Swimming Competition, held in Swakopmund over five demanding days of competition. The event brought together some of the best swimmers from across the country, testing their endurance, focus, and determination across multiple races.
Representing WIS were Zafari Zeidler, Gizelle Slinger, Candice Rey, Suraya Askhikoto, Scarlett McNamara, Jade McNamara, Patrick Durand, and Dani McNamara. These dedicated athletes train throughout the year to perform at this level, with the Nationals serving as a crucial stepping stone toward international competitions.
Their hard work and commitment paid off:
Zafari Zeidler – 2 medals
Gizelle Slinger – 10 medals (including a new Namibian record with her relay team)
Candice Rey – 11 medals (including a new Namibian record with her relay team)
Scarlett McNamara – 2 medals
Patrick Durand – an outstanding 16 medals, broke the record for the 800m and 1500m freestyle and took home the Junior Victor Ludorum Cup. This is awarded to the fastest junior swimmer in the country.
This remarkable achievement by Patrick is a testament to his dedication and discipline, and we could not be prouder of his success.
We extend our congratulations to all our swimmers for their incredible performances, resilience, and dedication—qualities that define what it means to be a WIS Eagle. You have represented your school with pride, commitment, and true sporting spirit.
We applaud you all!
