Last week I had the opportunity to travel to Dubai for an IB workshop called “MYP Mathematics: Managing Assessment”. I wasn’t sure what to expect but hoped to develop my knowledge and understanding of how the IB assessments work.
This experience allowed me to network with Mathematics teachers from other schools worldwide, share ideas, ask questions and work with a wonderful IB-approved workshop leader.
I received validation that what we do here at WIS is already going well and in line with the IB philosophy and framework. It also gave me a new understanding on how we can improve our assessments further to help our students to be able to demonstrate their learning in the different criteria.
I will now be meeting with members of the Mathematics department to share my learning and to ensure that we schedule plenty of collaborative time to work together to continuously improve upon what we are doing.
