Our WIS students shine in SANJ Swimming Championships!

Updated: Apr 13

Between 21 March and 25 March 2026, five of our dedicated learners represented the Namibian Swimming Federation (NASFED) at the prestigious South African National Junior Swimming Championships.

We are incredibly proud of the hard work and unwavering commitment these athletes displayed; they represented our school with excellence!

Below, they share their personal highlights and reflections on the experience.

Being part of SANJ was an incredible experience! I really enjoyed working with such a talented and hard-working team and seeing all of us succeed in our races. My favourite moment was standing on the podium representing my country. Throughout the process, I learned so much about fueling (eating at the right time and the right food), self-confidence, and mental strength. I also loved watching everyone succeed in their races and supporting each other along the way. Overall, SANJ was more than just a swimming event—it was a chance to show what Namibia can achieve as a country, make lasting memories, and be part of something special. I’m proud of what we accomplished and excited to share our journey with the WIS community.

The gala was an absolutely amazing experience for me, because I hadn't left the country for a swimming competition before. I swam the 50m, 100m, and 200m breaststroke final, so I was very proud of myself, and I was ranked top 7 for my age group in SADC!

SANJ 2026 was one of my favourite tours that I've been on; it is also very special to me as it was my first SANJ ever. I did really well in all my performances, and I improved my times in all my races. Some highlights of this trip were how close I got to people I've never uttered a word to, and it made the experience ten times better, knowing a whole team here and back home is rooting for me. The races that stood out for me were my 50's (50m butterfly and 50m Freestyle) for 50m butterfly. I went a 31.54, which is a big leap for me. Although my 50m freestyle time wasn't what I wanted, I got to improve it in my relay as I was the leadoff and got a 29.76, which is one step closer to my sub-29 I've been looking for. Overall, I really enjoyed this experience, and I can't wait for next year!

I participated in 9 events during SANJ and improved some of my times. It was a great tour, a great experience; I made many new friends and made many memories, and there was good competition. My highlight was definitely improving my time in my main event, the 100m butterfly; this was a very big achievement for me.

Competing in the South African National Junior (SANJ) Championships was an incredible experience. I had a packed schedule, competing in 12 events throughout the competition. The highlight was definitely winning a bronze medal in the 1500m Freestyle. It was also rewarding to see my progress reflected in the many Personal Bests (PBs) I achieved across my other races. The overall experience was amazing and full of fun. It was great to be part of such a great team of Namibian swimmers, a high-energy environment and see all the hard work from my training in the pool.

What an incredible achievement! Representing the Namibian Swimming Federation at such a prestigious championship is something to be truly proud of. From my experience as a student, balancing academics with sports requires a lot of discipline, dedication, and time management, so it’s inspiring to see young learners achieving so much at an early age. Patrick’s accomplishment of winning six gold medals and breaking two Namibian records is especially remarkable and shows the power of hard work and teamwork. Moments like these motivate students to push their limits both in academics and extracurricular activities. Even while managing my studies and sometimes seeking Economics Dissertation Help, stories like this remind me how commitment can lead to outstanding results.
