Our Students Serving Our Community

We have some amazing initiatives that our students are driving that I strongly invite the whole community to support. Today I want to mention three of these, but there are more opportunities that I will talk about in the coming weeks.
A few weeks ago, some of our students participated in a workshop with Harvard students - Learn with Leaders. This workshop culminated in students presenting a passion project that they had worked on during the workshop to their peers and parents. It was incredible to see what our students came up with and a number of these passion projects are in the process of becoming reality here at WIS.
Speak Your Roots

One of our Grade 11 IBDP students, Amanda Fernandez Ruiz, is starting a language club. Please see her description of the activity below:
My name is Amanda. I'm in 11th grade and have been working on a Language/Culture Club called "Speak your Roots".
As an international student, there have been many times in which I have wished we could share and learn more about each other's cultures, which is why I'm starting this: a project in which students teach each other their home languages.
Depending on what the students want to learn, the club will offer either more or fewer languages (some of which could be Japanese, Korean, Spanish, or Russian), and the lessons would ideally be mainly taught by high school students. These classes are meant to cause zero academic stress, seeing that we would mostly engage in conversational lessons as well as some other (occasional) cultural immersion exercises.
Each language will be taught for an hour around once a week starting from January.
If you could please fill this form out, that would be great!
