Dear WIS Parent Community,
We are pleased to announce an upcoming charity drive, which is being led by the Grade 6 and Grade 7 classes, that offers us an opportunity to extend our school’s spirit of care and community support. This year, we have chosen to support the Katutura Old Age Home, where 25 wonderful senior residents are in need of essentials and thoughtful comforts. We aim to gather items to create personalized gift boxes that will bring them warmth, joy, and a sense of connection from our community.
The Katutura Old Age Home is home to residents who often face limited resources. We are reaching out to our parent community to help us provide a range of items that will meet both practical needs and offer leisure and comfort. By coming together, we can create gift boxes that not only support daily essentials but also bring smiles and personal touches to each individual.
Each grade has been assigned specific items which they will donate, however everyone is encouraged to donate as much as they can. The items include
Toiletries such as soap, lotion, toothpaste, and personal care items.
Non-perishable food items to add extra sustenance and comfort.
Crochet needles, wool, and knitting supplies to encourage creativity and provide a relaxing pastime.
Books that can transport them into new stories and worlds.
Gardening items to support their love for the outdoors and enable them to nurture plants as part of their routine.
Each donation, no matter how small, can make a meaningful difference. Whether you are able to contribute a single item or several, your generosity will help us bring light and warmth to these cherished seniors.
If you would like to contribute, please send any items with your child or drop them off at the school office by November 29, 2024. We hope to create beautiful, heartfelt gift boxes for each resident and to show them the care and kindness our school community can offer.
Thank you for considering being a part of this heartfelt initiative. Together, we can make a difference, honoring the lives of those who came before us and making their days a little brighter.
Warm regards,
Grade 6 and Grade 7 Students and Homeroom Teachers
