Grade 8: City Field Trip

The Grade 8 German class went on a small outing to better our understanding and vocabulary regarding the topic “My City”. Before this field trip, we made slide shows to decide where we were going. We each picked one place in our city, Windhoek. We started our tour at Windhoek International School. We then drove to Grove Mall, Rocomamas, we then went to the Cinema in Grove Mall. After that, we went to the SuperSpar German grocery shop near Maerua Mall. We next went to the Parking lot of the parliament and took a group picture. We then went to the Museum and Christus Kirche. We then visited the Train Station and the Mosque in Klein Windhoek.

We visited the Avis dam and ended our excursion at Raiths Café near the school, DHPS. Ms Christina organized at the café and we ordered our ice cream in German. This was only the first part of our field trip, as we ran out of time to go to Heinitzburg and a few other places. For this reason, we decided that we would have another field trip to complete this. This field trip was extremely enriching as we got to see the places that we made presentations about. This was extremely interesting and allowed for a lot of engagement in the subject. Overall, this field trip was fun, increased our knowledge and used our learning in a real real-life context.
