Fostering Future Leaders Through Global Alliance

This year’s Global Alliance Programme has taken off to a wonderful start with six of our  students currently visiting Annie Wright Schools, Tacoma, US. They seem to be delighted to be there and are making us proud. Here is what the coordinator at Annie Wright had to say:

The whole group of students from WIS are wonderfully sweet… many of our staff have commented on how delightful it is to have them. Thanks for sharing them with us!

It gives me immense pleasure to share these photos with you. (The group in school uniform on their first day at AWS and Aaron making music with his new classmates)

For those of you who are new to our school, the Global Alliance Programme is an exciting initiative aimed at cultivating future leaders and enhancing global education.  A consortium of International Baccalaureate schools, currently formed between Windhoek International School in Namibia, Annie Wright Schools in Tacoma, Washington, USA, and the International School of Western Australia in Perth, Australia, focuses on fostering extensive intercultural exchanges and collaborative learning opportunities.

We have chosen to pioneer this collaborative effort through student exchanges involving 9th and 10th graders. These exchanges are typically three-week direct exchanges between students supported by their families, with travel being paid for by each family and homestay and experiences provided reciprocally by host families. Participants have shared that these exchange experiences have been among the most powerful learning opportunities of their education so far.

Looking ahead, the Global Alliance is exploring further collaborative initiatives, including faculty exchanges, curricular partnerships, and family exchange programs.  The programme aspires to prepare students not only for personal success but also to contribute meaningfully to a global society.
