In 2023 WIS entered into a Memorandum of Agreement with the University of Namibia to cooperate in the field of teacher training. This is an excellent opportunity for WIS to collaborate with UNAM to facilitate cooperation in education.
We have had student teachers doing their teaching practice in different subjects with different teachers for some time now. This formalised agreement enables WIS and UNAM to be intentional with the cooperation and it also ensures that Namibian student teachers have an opportunity to experience our approach to education and give their input into their education as teachers.
This week, Paula Kaula started her Phase 2 Teaching Practice at WIS. She will be observing and also teaching in English and shadowing some Mandarin lessons. We are happy to have Paula join us for three weeks and look forward to hearing from her about what she takes away from this experience. Being able to interact with tertiary institutions to prioritise education and teacher training is a mutual benefit for WIS and these institutions. We are grateful for our teachers who guide the student teachers through this process as well as to UNAM and our Human Resource Officer, Ms. Lagia Shifotoka who arranges these teaching practices.
Cooperation and the ability to get to know each other, this is certainly having a positive impact on both WIS as well as the student teachers.
