A very exciting milestone for Windhoek International School
We are launching our
WIS ALUMNI ASSOCIATION & NETWORK
For some time now, a group of former WIS students has worked together to establish an Alumni Association for WIS. Thank you Taimi Itembu, Iuze Limbo, Amr El Sherif and Sebby Ashipala for the time and ideas you invested in this endeavour.
At times we felt stuck and basically had everything in place, but didn’t get to the next level. We have started a database and have around 200 members already that have submitted the form to be included in this database. This is an impressive number of alumni and we are now ready to take the next step towards formalising this association and network.
In my time at WIS it was very rare that someone would not be keen to stay in touch and to stay a part of our WIS family. We have alumni that study, work and live across the world in all continents. This is so heartwarming and an outstanding opportunity to create a network of support particularly for new alumni to be connected across the world and to be able to find their way more easily in a new environment with new challenges anywhere in the world.
When I first sent out the notice of the launch of the Alumni Association, I was so happy to hear back from so many of our alumni and to hear that people are so keen to stay connected and to contribute to WIS.
So, welcome to our new network and association. We are formally launching the association on the 7th of November and you can join either in person or virtually and be part of this amazing event.
As many of you might know, we also have an active Volleyball for All Alumni team participating in the tournament at the beginning of each year. We therefore thought it fitting to use this opportunity with the launch to fundraise for a volleyball court at WIS and open the possibility to have a permanent alumni volleyball team that can practise at WIS - possibly even with our own very strong student volleyball teams.
Join us on the 7th of November at WIS to launch our Alumni Network and get together with students and teachers who have been part of our WIS family for a long time now. We want to officially celebrate our WIS community with those who have been here since WIS started in 1990.
