SATs and Signa Aviation School

On Saturday our high school students had the opportunity to write the SATs at WIS. It is a great opportunity to be a SAT centre where our students can write in a familiar environment with teachers proctoring and supervising. Students who wrote the SATs last Saturday felt well prepared for these test. They attributed this to their preparation in the MYP and with MAP Growth tests in the Middle School.

Our high school students were also invited to an open day organised specifically for WIS to get to know our own aviation school in Namibia: Signa Aviation. During the two hour visit, our students were able to see the Signa training centre and the aircraft that they would be flying of working with should they do their training at Signa. We have been in conversations with Signa to possibly offer a vocational opportunity combined with our WIS offer in Grades 11 & 12 that could make it possible for our students to do their PPL (private pilot licencse) and later the commercial pilot’s licences in a collaboration between WIS and Signa Aviation Services. Although this is still in its early stages, we are keen to develop a further partnership with Signa.
Signa offers three training opportunities for young people. If students perform well, there are opportunities for sponsorships from Fly Namibia to work on their aircraft fleet in the future.
The different training options available at Signa are:
