After leaving WIS, my short story.
I finished my final years of IB at the International School of Hout Bay in Cape Town after leaving WIS in 2011. I was fortunate enough to have a gap-year after I graduated, in which I travelled South-East Asia.
I went on to study at the University of Cape Town. In my first three years there, I received my Bachelor of Social Sciences, majoring in Sociology, Gender Studies and English Language and Literature. In my fourth and final year of Honours, I majored in Justice and Transformation, which focused on post-conflict societies. I graduated in 2017 from UCT. Since then I have found myself following more creative pursuits, working on small freelance illustration projects and turning my eye to education and teaching with the goal of going abroad to work. I have also been back to Namibia over the years, visiting old friends and briefly working at the Namibia Institute for Democracy.
Leaving WIS was bitter-sweet. My time there produced lifelong friends, provided me with formative experiences and many fond memories. As a young child, I remember the magic of International Days and the feeling of community that I found at the school. I will always keep those I met through WIS - those who helped form the individual I am today - close to my heart.
