In the past week WIS was honoured to receive two institutions on campus that had not visited before.
We had a three day event hosted by students from Harvard University. The course is offered by Learn with Leaders facilitated by students from Harvard University. The focus of the course was on public speaking, speech and debate - doing research and creating strategies to eventually come up with a Passion Project that all students then presented at the end of the workshop. The feedback from the Harvard mentors, students and their parents was overwhelmingly positive - with the most prominent comments around the skills that our students acquired through these three days and the skills they learnt that they can apply both to their academic work and to their personal growth.

Some great feedback from our students shows us how much they “learned with leaders”:
‘Passion Project: My passion project was on creating a platform for high schoolers to get work experience opportunities.
Feedback: After 3 days of attending the workshop, I left with a complete change in mindset. Our mentors, Taryn and Nico, who are both very hardworking and accomplished people, taught me what true excellence is. That it's not perfection, it's determination, passion and grit.’
‘I would thank you for organizing the learn with leaders event, I would also like to take up your offer to take my passion project further (ReGreen), my idea was to create an ASA called ReGreen that would focus on transforming this campus into a model for green society, as well as taking care of the natural animals.’
We are looking into offering another workshop with Learn with Leaders - that will focus on innovation, AI, coding and design as well as collaboration - teamwork, problem solving and leadership. Anyone interested in signing up for this course could contact Ms. Reiff
(mreiff@wis.edu.na) to express their interest.
On Wednesday, Cavendish University Zambia visited WIS.

The university was represented by A number of our students were able to try out some tech equipment that the university representatives brought along. We were particularly honoured to welcome the Executive Director Mr. Reginald Rainey to WIS as well. Visits like these are valued opportunities for our students to inform themselves and get exposed to new institutions and affordable ways for their tertiary education.

On another note, WIS had an opportunity to donate a big number of books to Mel Kelly for distribution to Little Libraries. These books will be hugely welcome in some underserved communities and will be both educational and reading pleasure for many young people.
