NEASC Learning Principles

Writer: WIS SocialsWIS Socials

As we reflect on our experiences through the lens of the NEASC Learning Principles that guided our accreditation visit this week, several moments stand out.

These learning principles work much like success criteria—they provide a roadmap for ensuring we're meeting our educational goals. They help us measure growth, identify opportunities for improvement, and celebrate our achievements.

Learning Principle 1 & 2: Learning Purposes & Dimensions of Learning

The Grade 4 Learning Celebration was a wonderful showcase of student growth. Watching our students confidently sell their products demonstrated how they've developed critical thinking, creativity, and entrepreneurial skills while engaging with real-world challenges.

Learning Principle 7: Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Belonging

Our Namibia Independence Day Celebrations led by Grade 1 students beautifully demonstrated our community's commitment to celebrating diversity. Learning about Namibian presidents, cultural groups, traditional dress, and experiencing the Damara rain gratitude song enriched our understanding of the cultural heritage that makes our community special. The Namibian staff and their community spirit during these events continues to impress everyone!

Learning Principle 10: Learning Community Well-being

Empathy Week brought our community together in meaningful ways. The 'What is My Spark' video showcasing our community highlights the respectful, healthy relationships that create our sense of belonging and define our identity.

Thank you to everyone for approaching the NEASC accreditation visit as an opportunity for growth. The concluding workshop provided valuable insights for our work in the coming months as we reflect on our strengths and areas for growth. The visit reinforced what makes our school so special - a shared dedication to learning at all levels, from our youngest students to our staff and leadership team.
