International Day

Windhoek International School has hosted International Day each year since the founding of our school in 1990. It is a special way to celebrate our school's international character and commitment to peace.

At any given time there are around 50 different nationalities represented at WIS, and at last count around 80 different languages are able to be spoken on this campus. Our students represent most of the world's major religious and cultural backgrounds. All are welcome here.

At 2:30pm, our International Day programme will take flight with Namene Mbumba a highly accomplished Namibian pilot and daughter of Namibia’s President.

From 2:40pm, The International Day Flag Parade will take place. Each attendee at this event is welcome to march with their own country’s flag, starting in the gym and marching to the stage, to the tune of a pop song from your country. Photos will be taken of each country on the stage, and national dress is optional.

We will then have an event programme with various songs, dances, and performances. The event programme is here. We also have over 30 stalls selling food and merchandise, with cold drinks and beverages sold by WIS in the tents.

If you’ve volunteered for a stall or are in a performance, then it might be useful to set your alarm for your stall times. Please report for the Flag Parade by 2:10pm and to the Performers Preparation Tent behind the stage, 15 minutes prior to performance. by 10 minutes prior to performance.

My huge thanks to the international day planning committee for going above and beyond to make this day happen. It’s going to be a great time!

Sincerely,

Ethan
