Holiday Charity Drive

Dear WIS Parents and Guardians,

Our Grade 6 students are excited to embark on a meaningful social responsibility project, and we would like to request your support in making it a success. We will be joining forces with the Bernhard Nordkamp Center, a non-government organisation that aims to provide a safe haven for many underprivileged children in Katutura.

Our project centers around helping 156 children by providing them with essential supplies. We believe that, together, we can make a significant impact on these children's lives.

Our goal is for each WIS family to “adopt a child” and sponsor a shoebox-sized gift for their child. In this parcel you will find the following items:

  • Hygiene Kits: Toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, shampoo, and other personal care items.

  • Clothing: Gently used or new clothing.

  • Books: Age-appropriate books to encourage a love for reading and learning.

  • Educational Materials: Educational games, art supplies, and other toys to support their development.

  • Sweet treat: Something sweet to bring on the holiday cheer

Here's how you can help:

  • Step 1: Adopt a child: Grab a tag from the Holiday Giving Tree in the office with the name, age, and gender of a child.

  • Step 2: Fill a shoe-sized box with the items above

  • Step 3: Cover the box and decorate it to your heart's content

  • Step 4: Bring the box back with its original label and drop it off under the Holiday Giving Tree in the office. Then spread the word about our project within the school community and beyond. Your word of mouth can go a long way in garnering support.

We plan to collect donations until the first week of December, and we will ensure that all contributions reach the children in need promptly. We will also organize a day for our Grade 6 students to distribute the items, providing them with a valuable hands-on learning experience.

Your support in this project will not only make a difference in the lives of these 156 children but also teach our students the importance of empathy, giving, and community involvement.

Thank you for your consideration and generosity. Together, we can make a significant impact on the lives of these children and instill important values in our young students.

If you have any questions or require further information, please feel free to contact your grade 6 students and homeroom teachers.

Please note that the giving tree will be available from Friday the 3rd of November 2023.

With warm regards,

Grade 6 students, Ms. Jacky, Ms. Sheodna & Ms. Urte
