Exploring Swakopmund: Grade 9 German Excursion Adventure

Writer's picture: WIS SocialsWIS Socials

This year, the grade 9 German class took a trip to Swakopmund. Over the 3-day trip, from Thursday to Saturday, our class did many fun activities while putting our German-speaking abilities to the test. Our class visited the museum on the first day and went to the Brauhaus restaurant. At the restaurant, we were only allowed to order our food in German. This provided us with the experience of a real-life situation.

The next day we continued to challenge our German Language skills and ordered ice cream in German. We also visited the Mole Museum where we were shown around by a German-speaking guide. Other activities included, going out for walks, cooking, surfing, going on a boat tour and even seeing a whale! Not only did the trip to Swakopmund help us learn, and speak German but it also provided us with bonding experiences. Going for walks and playing volleyball on the beach are memories a lot of us will never forget.

We want to thank our teachers, specifically Ms Jana, Ms Christina, Ms Maggie, Ms Carol our parents, and everyone else who made this trip possible.
