Dear WIS Community,
I hope this message finds you all in the high spirits that resonated through our school during this week's Diwali celebrations. The culminating assembly was spectacular, brimming with amazing vibe and energy!
Alongside the festivities, what truly stood out to me was the strength of our parent community. The collaboration with our librarian, Jeannette Washington, resulted in a heartwarming example of unity and shared cultural celebration. This Diwali celebration exemplified how our community comes together, reinforcing the rich tapestry of diversity that defines Windhoek International School.
Reflecting on the past months, we celebrated Rosh Hashanah, and looking ahead, Christmas is on the horizon. There are also exciting whispers of a dragon dance in the works for Chinese New Year.
A parent shared with me her sentiment of being away from her home country for 15 years. She expressed how every opportunity to expose her children to the cultural traditions of her homeland is a cherished gift. This sentiment encapsulates the spirit of our international school - a place where we not only value but celebrate our unique identities and diverse cultures, and a home away from home.
A heartfelt thank you to our WIS Indian parent community for making Diwali a memorable and culturally enriching experience for us all. Your contributions and enthusiastic participation are the essence of what makes our community special. We look forward to many more celebrations from around the world at WIS!
Warm regards,
Marcelle van Leenen
Primary School Principal
