Calling WIS families, community members and staff

Writer's picture: WIS SocialsWIS Socials

We would love it if you could join us in celebrating WIS Empathy week from 10th-14th March. We have a few ideas up our sleeves for students and were hoping to involve the wider community too.

The theme this year is 'What's your spark?' You can learn more about this global initiative through the website and through their frequently asked questions page here. The Empathy Week organisers view empathy as foundational to all other life skills, such as leadership, creativity and resilience and the annual 'empathy week' which is now a global movement centres empathy as something worth celebrating and growing.

We would be grateful if you could share with our community what your spark is..

This could be anything!

What is your passion?

Are you an avid reader? A runner? A good listener? Someone who likes working with their hands or gardening? You've got a champion smile or a way with words?

What gets you excited?

If you could choose to do anything with a few free minutes, what would it be?

Have you overcome something in spite of being faced with challenges which you feel has helped develop who you are today?

We're interested in any and every spark!

We are planning for our 'sparky ambassadors' to either be interviewed for a montage we will put together to show to students during the week, to drop by and present briefly to students of different years about their spark or to write a short blurb about themselves and their spark which we can send out in our 'Empathy bulletin' that week.

If you're keen to tell us a bit more about your spark, PLEASE sign up here and we'll get in touch.

The Empathy Week Team - Mandy Liedke, Susan Mawire and Bianca Salamon
