FROM CITY of WINDHOEK
Dear Residents,
We would like to bring to your attention the current status of the water supply in Windhoek. The three primary dams supplying water to the city are currently experiencing significantly reduced levels due to minimal inflow during this season.
As a result, NamWater has decided to decrease the water supply to the City of Windhoek from 75% to 40% of our total water demand.
Additionally, the Windhoek aquifer water level has decreased by an average of 75 meters, primarily due to extensive pumping activities since May 2023.
In light of the above, we all must make concerted efforts to conserve water. Currently, there is a requirement to reduce water consumption by at least 10%.
To contribute to water conservation efforts, we urge residents to adopt the following measures:
Refrain from establishing new gardens
Limit garden watering to periods before 9:00 AM & after 5:00 PM
Consider temporarily closing pools to mitigate evaporation
When washing cars, utilize buckets and water-efficient pressure cleaners
