In the coming weeks and months we will have several opportunities to partner with each other – students, families and the school. We value the partnership with parents, because working together as one team will ensure that we have the same understanding and the same goals for our children here at WIS to thrive. The secondary team has been preparing with a lot of passion for the upcoming Grade Level meetings and the same will apply for the Goal Setting Conferences that will be happening early in September The dates for all these events have been posted on ManageBac for students and parents to diarise. We welcome parents’ participation and active engagement in these events.
The Grade Level meetings are an opportunity for parents to meet other parents in their child’s grade level and the homeroom and wellbeing teachers of their child. Our team has made a concerted effort to prepare for these meetings to be informative and interactive so that everyone is well prepared for the coming year.
The Goal Setting Conferences are intended for students to set goals for themselves for the academic year. These will be prepared in class time so that the conferences can be led by the student and a meaningful conversation can happen between the student, the parent and the teacher on the way forward for this academic year.
University events and guidance about further education happen particularly in the coming months. We have the University of Calgary (Canada), the University of Johannesburg (South Africa), and Calvin University (USA) visiting WIS and attending the UNAM Career Fair on the 9th of September. We are also working with Signa Flight School to give our students opportunities in the field of aviation.
We look forward to active participation of parents and students during these events and hope that they will be meaningful opportunities for the partnership between school, home and the wider community.

And to summarize our partnership have a look below at the in depth outline of the way we work together and follow our Shared Understanding of High Quality Learning:
“When we work together and independently in a safe, caring environment, we can recognize each person’s place in the story of our shared planet. Through ongoing dialogue and actionable feedback, we develop the knowledge and skills needed to create a better future.”
