Welcome to WIS! What would you like us to know about you?
I am excited to be part of the WIS family. I enjoy learning new things and working with people. I always strive to bring a positive attitude to everything I do and are ready for a new challenge.
Could you tell us a little about your philosophy of education?
I believe education is more than just learning facts. I think learning should be engaging and connecting to real life. Not everyone learns in the same way thus I encourage creativity and to explore ideas from many perspectives.
To me a safe learning environment is where the learners feel free to ask questions and make mistakes. I see education as an ongoing process of hard work, support and staying open minded with a goal of encouraging confidence and building skills.
People often like to know their teacher’s academic background and professional
experiences. What and where have you studied? Where have you worked?
I did my B Education degree as well as my Honors in Special Needs Education in Potchefstroom in the North West Province South-Africa. I graduated in 2025. I assisted an English speaking child during her school holiday to prepare her for her transition to an Afrikaans mainstream school. During Covid I assisted a family with two primary school children with Home schooling. During my studies I observed and taught at different schools in Potchefstroom as part of my practical training
What do you do when you aren't teaching?
When I have time for myself I value time with my family, enjoy reading and going outdoors and trying new hobbies and opportunities that help me grow.
Why did you choose WIS?
I chose WIS because it is a place that values curiosity and has a genuine passion for learning and accommodating all learners. I felt welcomed and accommodated during the recruitment process, I knew this is a place where I can grow and be part of something meaningful.
Is there anything else you’d like us to know about you?
I am a huge animal lover and because I can not have my own mini Highland cow I settled for hanging out with the full sized ones and spending every other weekend being my dad’s unofficial farm assistant.
