Highlights from our Global Alliance Exchange Program

A Journey of Culture and Connection

On Tuesday, 14 April, our Grade 9 Global Alliance and exchange students set off for an immersive day at The Bushman’s Survival Trust. It was a unique opportunity to step into the world of the San and Himba people, where students explored indigenous languages, ancient traditions, and the intricacies of the hunter-gatherer lifestyle.

Farewell to Our Guests

As the week draws to a close, we are also preparing for some bittersweet goodbyes. This marks the final week at WIS for our visiting exchange students. While we are incredibly sad to see them go, we celebrate the lifelong friendships and global perspectives forged during their stay. They have become an integral part of our community, and their presence will be missed.

A heartfelt thank you to our wonderful host families for your incredible hospitality and for showing our visitors the very best of Namibia’s sights and spirit!

New Horizons for Our Grade 9s

The spirit of exchange continues! Early next week, we wish a fond farewell and safe travels to Ingrid Pienaar and Endi Cui. They will be heading to the Annie Wright School in Tacoma, USA, to begin their own exchange adventures.

We look forward to hearing about Ingrid and Endi’s experiences when they return!

My Experience at WIS- Annabella Grubin (International School of Western Australia)

I really enjoyed my time at WIS and found it to be a wonderful experience. From the very beginning, I found the students to be incredibly friendly and welcoming, creating a warm and inclusive atmosphere that made it easy to settle in. The staff were just as kind and supportive, always ready to offer help whenever I needed it.

One of the most interesting aspects of my experience was learning about apartheid in I&S, which provided me with a much deeper understanding of that period than I believe I could have gained elsewhere. The environment at school was consistently happy and positive, which made every day enjoyable.

Gabriella and my host family were truly amazing and made my stay even more special, providing such a kind and memorable experience that I will always appreciate. I loved trying new foods like boerewors and experiencing the thrill of seeing incredible animals in the wild, such as giraffes and cheetahs.

I will always cherish the friendships I have made during my exchange and look forward to staying in touch. It was fascinating to learn about Namibian culture and experience everything it has to offer. Overall, the exchange was incredibly enriching and I especially valued the opportunity to explore the country and deepen my understanding of Namibia. I am deeply grateful to WIS for hosting me in such an incredible Global Alliance exchange experience.
